The flowers are up.. the big red "ugly" chinese new year banners are up.. For the "puntang", it's the time of the year where the more "obiang" you are.. the more luck u're likely to get..Being the super non-superstitious person i am, i'm surprisingly dressed in pinkish red! i see it as a way of bringing luck n good fortune to my elders. it's the first time anyone see me wearing that shirt despite having bought it a year ago.. (it's the norm for me to buy clothes, keep them in the wardrobe and start complaining that i got nothing to wear..) this year, my dad, michelle and i are all dressed in shades of red !! hopefully, we'll get thru this year with good fortune aplenty.it's the norm for all my close kins(which is basically my family all the way to my ah gong and ah ma, motherside) to gather at ah ma's place on the 1st day of the chinese new year to have a lunch and exchange lucky greetings and ang pows.. [sidetracking, sometimes i wonder if i blogged the same thing last year.. hiak!]being the eldest among ah ma's grandchildren, i grew up without any chance to hv a pool of kakis to gamble with.. seeing the kids grow up, now they're allowed to try their luck with ban lat! seeing the kids trying their luck for the first time gambling, i felt OLD.. i din play coz i've more or less quit gambling of all sorts for good. burnt myself with soccer betting last time..everyone squeezes into the shot for a formal and an informal shot! i'm glad i belonged to a closely knitted family who're genuinely true to each other. i realized that i've taken this for granted after i heard from friends who spoke about their relatives.here's wishing everyone a happy lunar new year! Let's together welcome a piggie year with lotsa fortune and good luck for everyone..
err.. just dun eat till look like this... k?
